Caribbean Blue All-Natural Sunscreen Sport SPF25 - 120ml

Caribbean Blue SPF25 Sport - non nano formula - contains pure zinc oxide

No NANO particles! Sun Shield Sport is a unique 100% all-natural sunscreen formula that is water resistant, making it ideal for the active person. It resists run-off from heavy perspiration and swimming, allowing continuous protection. Instead of synthetic chemical ingredients, SunShield Sport contains natural zinc oxide to soothe and protect your skin from the sun's rays.

Natural tropical oils, botanical extracts, and anti-oxidant vitamins, are used for this completely natural, hypo-allergenic, non-whitening formula that protects, moisturises and soothes the skin. Sun Shield is formulated using the latest scientific research findings and information on sun protection: UVB rays are mostly involved with sunburns, while the deeper penetrating UVA rays are involved with premature aging, wrinkling and even skin cancers. Many chemical sunscreens protect only from UVB rays, and allow penetration of damaging UVA rays. Zinc oxide is the only ingredient that is FDA-recognized as having both UVB and UVA broadest-spectrum protection, as well as having therapeutic benefits.

Many healthcare practitioners believe that a Sun Protection Factor of 15 (SPF 15) is basically all that is needed for overall protection from the sun. An SPF 15 blocks 93.3% of the sun’s UVB rays, while an SPF 30 blocks 96.7%. Therefore, the SPF 15 provides a level of maximal screening of the suns rays, and SPF values above this point give less and less added protection.  However, having said this, there are times when a higher SPF factor can be useful - for instance, when it is impossible to keep certain areas of the body away from the sun's rays; such as the tip of the nose, the back of the neck and sometimes the shoulders.  An SPF 25 lotion can be useful in these circumstances but we would always recommend that you keep out of the sun completely between the hours of 11.00 am and 3.00 pm. There is also a growing body of evidence to suggest that a little sunshine is good for your skin giving your body important amounts of Vitamin D which is difficult to get through a normal diet.  As in most things in life, moderation is the key; only you know your own body, how it tans and how it reacts to the sun.  However to help you, and for more information on SPF's, skin and sun, please read this article:  Suncare Facts

I was very pleased with the product. It was delivered promptly and nicely packaged. I found the best way to apply the cream is to rub it between your fingertips slightly before applying it to the rest of the body or you can dab the cream on in small blobs and then rub it in. This creates a nice even covering. This is the first time I have used Caribbean Blue and have found it to be a very good product. A little goes a long way and it lasts for a long time. When I was walking in the sun I did not burn. (Posted on 8/11/12)

Applies easily, without leaving a white residue or being sticky. Am very allergic to chemical sunscreens and would rate this as one of the best mineral screens that I have tried to date, and I have tried sooooo many. (Posted on 7/19/12)

Easy to order arrived promptly and well packaged.
Have used this product before (SPF 15) but do find it a little difficult to apply and does leave white marks. It is however good for active sports, walking, swimming as water resistant.
Now changed to the higher SPF 25 I found this somewhat confusing as there appeared some discrepancy with write-up's on products ingredients and recommendations regards SPF & Nano particles. However customer services were very helpful in explaining this and assurred they will be updating their information.
I therefore purchased the SPF15 for use particularly on the face as easier to apply and non-whitening, then used the SPF25 for areas more likely to burn easily eg: arms, neck, shoulders, ears, nose.
This combination worked ok however is a little more costly and requires carrying two bottles. I would like to see a travel size alongsize the standard as found I was unable to transfer myself as the product is too thick.

REPLY from Amanda: Thanks Kathy for the review. It is rather confusing at the moment as we have been in the changeover process and the SPF15 is now the transparent formula (with NANO particles) and ALL the others in the range are the standard zinc oxide NON NANO formula. Some of the older reviews will not reflect this change and there may be old articles (we have many!) within the pages of our website which are no longer current. We will try to update everything where we can, however, if anyone does see something which is incorrect, just email us and we will rectify it ASAP. Many thanks! (Posted on 6/20/12)

Apply liberally ensuring even coverage. Re-apply after bathing.
This product may help reduce or prevent prickly heat rash in some people. This product is manufactured without the use of nano-technology. Although there is no conclusive evidence that zinc oxide based nano particles enter the blood stream and the manufacturers of these techniques claim that they do not do so, our naturopathic suppliers have taken the decision to formulate their Caribbean Blue ranges without nano particles.
What does this mean to you?
You will notice a slight whiteness when applying the sunscreen. This is useful as you will be able to see where to apply the screen. After about 20 minutes the whiteness will have completely disappeared in the majority of people. Contains 22% zinc oxide.
