Caribbean Blue SunShield Sport SPF15 - 120ml

Caribbean Blue SunShield Sport SPF25 Zinc Oxide Based All-Natural Sunscreen for all the family

Sun Shield Sport is a unique 100% all-natural sunblock formula that is water resistant, making it ideal for the active person. It resists run-off from heavy perspiration and swimming, allowing continuous protection. Instead of synthetic chemical ingredients, sun shield sport contains natural zinc oxide to soothe and protect your skin.

Natural tropical oils, botanical extracts, and anti-oxidant vitamins, are used for this completely natural, hypo-allergenic, non-whitening formula that protects, moisturises and soothes the skin. Sun Shield is formulated using the latest scientific research findings and information on sun protection: UVB rays are mostly involved with sunburns, while the deeper penetrating UVA rays are involved with premature aging, wrinkling and even skin cancers.

Many chemical sunscreens protect only from UVB rays, and allow penetration of damaging UVA rays. Zinc oxide is the only ingredient that is FDA-recognized as having both UVB and UVA broadest-spectrum protection, as well as having therapeutic benefits. Many healthcare practitioners believe that a Sun Protection Factor of 15 (SPF 15) is basically all that is needed for overall protection from the sun. An SPF 15 blocks 93.3% of the sun’s UVB rays, while an SPF 30 blocks 96.7%. Therefore, the SPF 15 provides a level of maximal screening of the suns rays, and SPF values above this point give less and less added protection.

  1. did not work Review by david
    Rating

Used this as allergic to all other suncreams. Used on holiday in October 2011 but burnt so badly even after re applying regularly throughout the day. Nice smell but definately not suitable for me.

REPLY from Amanda: We are already in touch with David and it is difficult to know why he burned whilst using the product. Our initial investigation would suggest that he did not use a high enough SPF for the amount of sun he experienced during the day and that his allergic reactions could also have exacerbated his problem. However, we do take any problem very seriously and this particular bottle is now back with the manufacturers to be tested.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind all sunscreen users that there is an optimal amount of time in any one day that you can expose your skin to the sun. For some people this may be a very very short period of time, especially in hot sun and even using a high factor sun protection product.

Reapplying sunscreen is of course very important in order to keep the cream present on the surface of the skin, however, if you have 'used up' the amount of time in the sun, using a cream, for your skin type, SPF, sun strength, etc., then you will burn regardless of how many times you re-apply sunscreen.

Thankfully, we have very few customers who are disappointed in this product, and in actual fact, the Caribbean Blue range is a bit of a lifeline to many who experience heat rash and other problems with conventional creams.

  2. Shame Review by Linda

Having bought the SPF8 cream at the same time, and been delighted with it, I'm sorry that I can't say the same for this cream.

Firstly it left a slight white residue, this also 'bobbled' so I'd look down at my cleavage and see cheesy looking bits which I guess was harmless, just not terribly attractive. I could have lived with that to be honest if it'd worked. This cream is waterproof, I bought it especially for my face and decolletage knowing I'd be spending time in the water with my child and these are the areas most likely to burn. Despite topping up regularly, I did burn, and funnily enough, only in the places not covered with the non waterproof SPF8! You could actually see the join the first night. Lashings of aftersun cream....

I wore a t shirt and hat the next 2 days, and put it down to maybe just not topping up enough, then on day 4 made sure I was really on it, treating the cream as non waterproof. I burned again. More lashings of aftersun...

Stayed out of the sun again next day, and spent the final 2 days with the SPF8 on, and was absolutely fine.

So you have one product I was telling everyone about - it's amazing how many people were complaining of prickly heat symptoms! and one that I honestly couldn't reccommend, no this one didn't cause prickly heat, but it didn't do what it was supposed to either. This is a shame.

Funny thing, I'm not actually that fair skinned, I normally tanned easily and well and had to be quite silly in the sun to get burned - like wear no cream at all and go out for the day. I'm not an english rose type...

REPLY from Amanda: I am concerned that this happened to you and would really like to investigate the cream - I recently used the SPF15 and 25 on holiday and had no problems,so I do wonder if the cream was faulty. I am getting in touch with Linda as this certainly is not the way the sun lotion is supposed to work! (Posted on 9/18/11)

Have only used it once since I purchased it , I am pleased with it so far. Being allergic to some ingredients in conventional sun creams, the test will be when I use it during my imminent holiday to the USA . (Posted on 8/20/11)
