thanks for the info about how petrolatum (or petroleum) works, although I do not use hand creams or lip balm that contain petrolatum as I always thought it seems the wrong product to be put on ones skin. I have been using organic products for a long time. (As I have a French University diploma in chemistry I have some knowledge of how toxic/irritating some beauty products are). . I am sure the Paul Penders hand cream will be a good one for most users but as I work outside for most of the time my hand needs extra care. (And I am a big fan of the night face cream from Paul Penders)

REPLY from Amanda: Many thanks for your review Jade. I think you are right, the Marigold Hand Cream is a daily one, but more suited to normal use (I keep mine by the kitchen sink!). Used regularly it will improve the condition of the skin, but its not a greasy or heavy cream which perhaps is more suited to outdoor life. So if you want a light, easily absorbed hand cream, free from anything artificial or nasty, this is the one for you! (Posted on 1/10/12)

Quick moisturising effect, but doesn't feel deeply moisturised and so doesn't last!
I was expecting a bit more for the price.

REPLY from Amanda: I am so sorry that you didn't like the Paul Penders Marigold Hand Cream. This product was sold successfully by PP for many years and made a return to our market recently due to constant requests!

If you are used to using a hand cream with petrolatum in its ingredients, you will find that the Paul Penders creams seem less oily and do not stay on top of the skin. However, because they are so easily absorbed they are much nicer to use. Petrolatum is used for hydrating the skin, however, the way it does this is to absorb the moisture from the air, AND ALSO THE SKIN. Hence, after a few months of use, your skin would get drier and drier, although, initially, you will feel that the product moisturises well.

Paul Penders products all contain LevensESSENSIE Gold, which is a herbal extract containing 22 wild or organic herbs and will benefit your skin over a period of time. As with all organic products, do not expect results immediately. If you persevere you will find that the general health of the skin on your hands improves.
